Our final glimpse of the beautiful Phi Phi Islands as our speedboat tour came to an end and we headed back to Krabi.

Intro: Our Phi Phi Islands speedboat tour finished with another snorkeling session at Loh Samah Bay, before the clouds rolled in and we made a bee-line back to Krabi as the rain poured down upon us!

A yacht parked beside a speedboat in Loh Samah Bay, with plenty of snorkeling tourists in between.

With our bellies satisfied after lunch at the PP Princess Resort, we were ready for our next snorkeling adventure at Loh Samah Bay. This was a similar experience to the one we had at Hin Klang during the morning, except we spent a little less time at Loh Samah Bay. Nevertheless, this was also fun and Henry had a chance to see a few fish while clinging dearly to the boat’s staircase!

Slices of watermelon ready and waiting for us after our snorkeling excursion in Loh Samah Bay.

Once our captain called us back onto the boat and we got on board, there were slices of watermelon waiting for us, as well as some Krabi cake that tasted like fluffy pound cake. YUM!

We then headed back to Phi Phi Don to pick up our guide, plus a missing honeymooning couple and one that had stayed behind because of a bad case of seasickness. Although he had no nausea (just dizziness), I felt bad for him and was so grateful that I had brought my Scopolamine patches. Henry and I are incredibly sensitive to motion sickness and think we avoided an epic meltdown by having these!

Ominous skies up above as we left Loh Samah Bay to finish our Phi Phi Islands speedboat tour in Krabi.

With one look at the skies, our captain instructed our boatmen to haul up anchor and we were off. On one side the skies were blue with fluffy white clouds, while on the other dark clouds hung low in what looked a very stormy picture. It wasn’t long before the rain poured down and things started to get very wet!

Fellow speedboat tour passengers huddle for cover as heavy tropical rain poured down.

It was quite comical watching as everyone ducked beneath each other and under their towels, trying not to get wet. But at the same time, the wind mixed with the rain was quite chilling and we really started to feel cold, despite the tropical temperatures.

Our speedboat follows others back towards Krabi at the end of our Phi Phi Islands day trip.

Luckily we made it back safely to Krabi and were in the comfort of our hotel at Aonang Cliff Beach Resort by 4PM. All in all it was a successful day of adventure on our Phi Phi Islands speedboat tour and we were excited to try something new tomorrow – longboating!

TOP THREE TIPS

  • Bring sunglasses to protect your eyes from not only the sun, but also the water that sprays up during the boat ride.
  • Make sure to bring a thick towel to dry you quickly and protect you and your belongings when it rains.
  • Look out for any compartments on the boat where you can stow away your belongings if things get extra wet.
